Meanwhile, third-seeded Romanian Sorana Cirstea handled Estonian Maret Ani 7-5, 6-2; fourth-seeded German Sabine Lisicki topped Russian qualifier Elena Bovina 6-4, 7-5; seventh-seeded Israeli Shahar Peer pasted Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova 6-4, 6-1; and eighth-seeded Anna-Lena Groenefeld grounded fellow German Kristina Barrois 6-4, 6-4.
One other second-rounder saw Belgian Yanina Wickmayer fight back to beat Belarusian Olga Govortsova 0-6, 6-2, 6-2.
The other quarters will pit Cirtsea against Wickmayer, Lisicki versus her countrywoman Groenefeld and Peer against Groth.
The 2009 Estoril champ will collect $37,000.
